New Colorado PTAC shows astounding results in first 6 months

Working on a shoestring budget, the Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center’s (PTAC) amazing staff has exceeded all expectations exponentially in only 6 months.

Initiated by a grant from the Federal government and with local match through the State of Colorado's Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), PTAC’s mission is to assist Colorado businesses in competing for government contracts at federal, state and local levels.  Their assistance spans the entire state and is provided free to PTAC's small business clients.  Since November 2009 they have assisted more than 650 client companies, 155 of which have won contracts estimated in excess of $100,000,000.  “That kind of economic impact is certainly good news, and represents a boon to the State of Colorado that can help pull us into recovery,” said PTAC’s Board Chairman, Michael McDevitt, of BiggsKofford CPAs in Colorado Springs.

PTAC’s board of directors recently approached R&M Resource Development for assistance in creating a fundraising strategy and a volunteer fundraising effort for the new nonprofit. “Tom Elam and Ken Knapp, PTAC’s Director and Deputy Director, are unmatched in their field, and there is clearly a pent-up demand for this type of service in Colorado,” said PTAC board member Ed Morlan, of Region 9’s E.D. District in southwest Colorado.  “We know R&M can help us develop the resources that will unleash the program's potential, and allow Tom and Ken to grow it into a juggernaut of economic performance.”

“We were simply amazed at PTAC’s story, and congratulate the State OEDIT for their foresight in backing it so strongly,” said R&M Principal Susan Blansett.  "We’re thrilled to be working on a project that has such huge potential for Colorado.”
