Abbas Grammy holds a doctoral degree in economics from University of Colorado, Boulder. His areas of specialization are macroeconomics and economic development. He has been Professor of Economics at California State University, Bakersfield since 1989 and served as the Chair of Economics Department from 1996 to 2002.

Dr. Grammy has two books and twenty-two refereed journal articles to his academic credit. He is also the Publisher and Managing Editor of Kern Economic Journal and co-organizer of Kern County Economic Summit. He has conducted economic studies for many organizations such as the Central California Futures Institute, California Department of Social Services, Great Valley Center, California State University, Bakersfield, and Bakersfield Association of Retarded Citizens.

He lives in Bakersfield, CA with his wife and two children, and writes poetry and short stories for a hobby.
