Second Q5 Campaign Kicks Off in Illinois:
October 4 saw leaders from throughout Illinois’ capital city gather at the University of Illinois/Springfield to celebrate the early success of the second five-year Q5 economic development campaign, and to re-commit themselves to bootstrapping economic recovery.
R&M Resource Development helped the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce (GSCC) establish its first real public/private partnership for E.D. in 2006. That effort came to be known as Q5 (for Quantum Growth, 5 years). In spite of massive global recession, Q5 enjoyed an investor retention rate of 96%, and the Springfield area economy grew by $2.1 billion in the past four years, better than any other Illinois community except Champaign-Urbana.
With Q5 ready for its second, five-year plan, GSCC leaders asked R&M to help them renew and strengthen the effort going forward. The new campaign began in July.
To enthusiastic applause, CEO of R.W. Troxell and Co-Chair of the Q5 Strategic Leadership Council Mike Aiello announced to the October 4th audience that more than $3.5 Million had already been secured toward the new Q5 goal of $5.3 Million. The new Q5 focuses on five major areas: Economic Diversification, Workforce Sustainability, Community Impact, Diversity Development, and Transformational Issues.
